NUCCA vs. Traditional Chiropractic

What is the difference between traditional chiropractic adjustment and the NUCCA adjustment?

Unlike a traditional chiropractic adjustment, which may include popping, cracking or twisting of the spine, NUCCA adjustments are gentle and focus on precision.
NUCCA recognizes the critical relationship between the upper cervical spine (neck) and the central nervous system and brain stem function.
When the top vertebrae of the spine (called the Atlas is misaligned, it can result in stress, tension and pressure on the entire nervous system.
This can impact all functions of the body, from breathing, to digestion, to circulation. When left untreated, it can result in varying health conditions and chronic pain.
Through a precise but incredibly gentle technique, we ensure the Atlas is aligned, the spine is straight and balanced, and the head is centered over the neck - thus restoring balance in your body and ensuring efficient communication to the nervous system. This can alleviate stress, pain, and discomfort, allowing the body to heal and function properly.
Many patients who have tried a number of medical and alternative approaches without success find that NUCCA care provides the relief they have been seeking.

What is a Structural Shift?

The upper bones of the human spine (Atlas, Axis) function very similarly to the foundation of a house because:
  1. They support the weight of the human head.
  2. They are designed to protect the brain stem (spino-medullary junction).
The brain controls every physiological function in the body. Communication through the brain stem is how the brain coordinates muscle function, organs, cells, tissues, and healing. It’s easy to understand how these segments in the neck act as the foundation to the rest of the human body. If this foundation shifts, an obstruction or interference in communication between the brain and body occurs which can compromise basic physiological functions in the body leading to common secondary conditions mentioned above.
Car accidents, concussions, sporting accidents, slip and falls, birth trauma, and poor posture are just a few of the many factors that can contribute to a structural shift in the spine. Multiple minor, or seemingly negligible incidents in the past, can accumulate (like a cavity) causing the spine to shift outside of the normal range.
